  Zee Bangla is a well known Indian cable television network broadcasting in the Bengali tongue. It is broadcasted by Zees Network, a joint venture between Zees Communications, Essel Group and Kolkata-based media group, Birla Media. He's' first Bengali-medium television channel in the country, Zee Bangla has been around since 1999. It has been well received by viewers and is now one of the biggest channels available. Bengali serials are very popular in India and are loved by everyone. Most of the time, serials written in English are translated into Bengali for the viewers and the film script is edited so that the language can be understood. An Interview With Sandip Ray - Indian Movie Director

Sandip Ray is a Bengali film director and song director who mainly work in Indian cinema. He is the sole son of the legendary Bengali film director Satyajit Ray. He is also known for his music work and has worked with top directors such as John Boorman, Yash Chopra, Arundhati Roy and Amit Deshpande among many others. Born in West Bengal in the year 1969, Sandip was brought up in the midst of poverty by his father. He went to live in Delhi when he was just fourteen years old where he met his first director - Yash Chopra. Sandip was a very shy kid, but then he started studying art. He then started to write short stories that were later used in Hindi films. He became famous for his short films and was then asked to direct a film starring Ranbir Kapoor. Phirki's Transgendered Love Story

An acclaimed, award-winning film directed by Deepa Mehta (The Lunchbox, The Wedding Date), Phirki Serial is a story about love, identity and the human condition. A transgender woman named Phirki rescues an orphaned little girl from a slum and faces many hardships in raising her as a transgendered person because of social conventions and social injustice. The film also delves into the lives of her daughter, who wants to become a doctor but struggles with gender dysphoria, and her wife, who wants to start their own business but does not want to be associated with a "transgendered" person. With a plot that revolves around the different stages of Phirki's transition and coming out, the film is a film that will keep you guessing all through.
