Anja Ana and The Book Of Moon
In the film "The Little Girl Who Played Hide and Seek" Alo Chhaya plays the role of a good, loving, sweet little girl who is secretly a lesbian. She is also very caring about her mother and father but is also very afraid of her mother's death and her own sexuality. This is the most important theme of the film as this small girl lives a very sheltered life in a conservative, middle class family.
Alo's mother and father are divorced and her father doesn't have any children of his own and only has one daughter called Binti who is very close to him. Alo, who is raised by both her parents, shares a close bond of love with her mother but is often overlooked by her mother's family who makes many issues between the two women.
When Alo's mother is pregnant she finds out about her lesbian relationship and makes her life very difficult by sending Alo to live with another woman in India. As soon as Alo returns to her home, her father begins to take an interest in her life. He wants Alo to stay in India to continue working, but she refuses. She decides to leave and takes her beloved Chhaya with her.
Chhaya finds her way back to her mother's home where she is now married to the man who killed her father and brother. Chhaya's mother is very jealous of her and starts to treat Alo very badly.
When Alo leaves, Chhaya's father goes out with another man in order to prove himself as a good man and finally get back at his father. Chhaya falls in love with him, but Alo's mother does everything in her power to prevent this from happening.
Alo and her mother eventually fall out. Alo goes on a date with a beautiful woman, and her mother gets angry because Alo will be spending the night with a girl who isn't even a relative of hers. The next day Alo's mother tells her friends about what happened. Her friends find out about Alo's lesbianism and threaten to tell Alo's father if she doesn't leave.
Alo's father relocates to New York in search of love, but this causes Alo to become very isolated in New York. York, and she becomes depressed. She feels like she is being punished by her parents for something she didn't do years ago.
When Alo's best friend, Binti, arrives to help her Alo runs away with Binti and they start an affair with each other. Eventually Binti's boyfriend comes after them and they fight and break up. Binti's father decides to help Alo leave New York. They both run away but Alo's father follows Binti's mother dies. Binti's father dies soon after and Alo's mother becomes very depressed and in despair.
Alo decides that if she wants to get away from her father and live a normal life, she has to take Chhaya with her. Chhaya is very unhappy about leaving her mother behind and Alo decides that Chhaya needs to go away with her. Alo's mother agrees but Chhaya is upset. Alo decides that if she is going to live a normal life she must take Chhaya with her.
Chhaya is thrilled to be gone from her father but Alo's mother does not like this idea. She refuses to let Chhaya go with Alo, even though Alo's father offers to take her to Italy with him. if she will just promise her mother a great deal of money. Alo's father refuses this and she makes the decision to leave her mother's house and travel by train. To her surprise her mother is so excited that she agrees to go with Alo.
Alo decides that she will only give Chhaya one trip and one place to go and she does not want Chhaya's new life to change. She also makes it clear that she doesn't want her mother to accompany her because she does not want to be alone.
Alo takes her mother on a trip to Paris, and they spend their time relaxing in the city, but when Alo returns she tells her mother that she has decided to leave France forever. Alo decides that it was her father who pushed her into making this decision. Alo decides that when she comes back from her trip, she wants to meet her mother and apologize for not telling her mother everything. her parents could have died before Alo's mother could tell her all that was wrong with her. Alo asks her mother if she can go with her and she agrees.
